Cherry popped... NSV :)

I crossed post here & on the rny board cuz I posted somewhere that I needed to get my cherry popped by riding the Cyclone, a ride I chickened out of riding last year.

Well I finally went & did it & it was so much fun! So glad I was able to fit in the seat, no more wondering if I'd fit in, then I gathered up my courage & went on the Thunderbolt. What fun!, I was in there snug as a bug in a rug, lol. Plus it was a ride that went straight up, then dropped straight down!, did a loop upside down, twirled around, etc, etc. Years ago I never would've fit on one of these rides, so its pretty cool that I can go on them & not worry about fitting in!

I'll be going on those rides & more again! Have a great day everyone!

Good for you.  I was never allowed to ride those coasters when we went to Coney Island.  I rode the merry-go-round and tried to grab the brass rings.

We have Cedar Point in Ohio and the coasters there are great.

Years ago I was in Las Vegas and we drove to the California border to ride the Desperado.  There were four of us and the other three chickened out.  I rode by myself and loved it.  I hope to get to ride the Cyclone and Thunderbolt some day.

Ooh you gotta go! I'll ride with you.  Actually they have this new ride that wasn't there last year called The Slingshot & it's exactly as the name says. 2 people get in this little ball, they point you straight up at the sky & shoot you straight up! Then you bounce up & down, spin around like a ball b4 finally going back to the ground again. People even took their shoes off cuz it would've went flying!

I must've passed & stared at that Thunderbolt ride for over an hour b4 I just said *** it & just got on. OMG, what fun, I think I psyched myself out more than the ride was. I mean straight vertical up then a straight drop down!, then going upside down, etc, etc. I'm so looking forward to Disneyland, what conference?, bring on the rides. Maybe Dr. Now can make the fireside chat over there? lol

Oh God, the Cyclone is hands down the scariest coaster I've ever been on. Congrats to you for braving it!

Ooh yes it was a little rough, felt a little like bumper cars lol, but figured it was me & my lack of rollercoaster experience. Sooo, I went on the Thunderbolt kinda to do a comparison wooden old rollercoaster versus a newer metal type one. The newer one did feel a lot smoother, vs The Cyclone that moves around a bit more forcefully, just a different kind of fun. You do have to have a certain kind of grit?, I guess to ride it, but I wanted The Cyclone & I sure did get it!

Gotta do a lot more rides b4 giving a better review. HaHa!

My mother grew up in a tentament building one block from the beach at Coney Island.  They were poor, but had the beach to play at every day.  The man that ran the Cyclone then had one leg.  She told us that he lost his leg on the ride and they gave him a job as compensation.

I don't know if the story was true but she was terrified of us riding coasters.  My dad thought they were fun and just told me not to tell mom when we went on the rides.

I would like to visit Coney Island and go coaster riding with you.  Maybe next summer.

I am 68 and none of my friends will ride coasters now.  I hope I never grow up that much.

High five!  It's going to be a big deal when I get to go the first week in November.  I've not been on a coaster in a long while.  Been too big, I won't be this time.  I'm really excited.  I'm very happy for you too!
