Church festival this weekend: do I miss my stomach?
I'm heading home this weekend to help out with my church's ethnic food festival like I do every year. This is the first festival post-RNY. As I was thinking earlier today, I thought that I'd miss eating some of the foods that I used to eat at the festival (halushki, chicken tenders, etc.), but then I remembered how crummy I felt after gorging myself with those foods. They're good for a while, but after eating more than my fair share (which I always did), I felt bad about myself.
Of course, I can still enjoy some favorites such as hot sausage or meatballs (sans the bun), but I am happy I have my RNY to keep me in check this year. It's a new experience for sure.
I was born in Pittsburgh, to a very Hungarian family...
I now live in Oklahoma City, and I make halushki every New Years Day for my friends... they love it!
I will have some when I make it this year - post RNY - but I'll grab more cabbage than noodles... I will I will I will!
Yum!
On another note, we are going to the state fair in a couple of weeks. I figure there's enough meat out there that I'll be good... I'll just try one of the many new bacon wrapped something or anothers!
There's always a choice with our surgeries... I love that part! And it doesn't take much to get full, so a bite of the things hubbie gets will probably do me.
