Are you able to eat less/more on certain days

I feel that somedays I cannot eat as much as other days and vice-versa. Does anyone else have those days where some days you cannot eat as much as other days? I think I've heard it referred to as "big pouch" and "little pouch" days.

Absolutely. Some days I can eat two eggs, every so often my pouch revolts and stops at 1. Some days I can eat a 6oz steak-- other days a chicken thigh makes me wanna hurl. No rhyme or reason to it. Pouch leads- I follow.

Yup. I'm pretty sure we all do.

But really, it is true for everyone. It's just that those without surgery can eat soooooo much more, it's harder to tell.

Totally! Some days I can't even finish half a yogurt. Others I'm like um, what sleeve? It seems to be totally random. Although I do sometimes notice my sleeve is a bit looser when Aunt Flo is in town. Goodness knows how that makes any sense.

Absolutely - and I can't predict the "small" pouch or "grouchy" pouch days.  It is what it is.  Some days I can't eat solid food without nausea and terrible bloating so I do liquids or soft (greek yogurt) type food.

It sucks if you are at a restaurant and get "foamies" or nausea on the 3rd bite!  It happens.  I just cover my plate with the napkin, because looking at food just makes me more nauseated.

I can eat "regular" amounts on some days, too.  Especially if food is moist, very well chewed, soft food, etc.

You will just need to find your "normal".  I'm 7+ years out from my RNY and my little 2-3 ounce pouch still surprises me some days.

Best wishes,

Penny

I have a band so that is a way of life for me.  One day I am wide open and the next it's the opposite.  I am effected by my emotions and time of the month or stress.  I don't know if it's the same with other surgeries.

To be honest I hate the days I am one extreme or the other.  I don't like to be wide open because I am hungry and want to eat everything.  When my band is tight I have to little bits.  I like being somewhere in the middle.

A little late to the thread...found my way here after not being able to get down 1 egg.

I believe hydration might play a big role here? It seems the days I'm dehydrated it's more difficult to eat.

My surgeon told me especially with the first meal, take a sip or two of water to "lubricate" the pathway.

And vice versa. When I need to lose a few, I do not drink right before eating. It helps me feel full more quickly.
