Weighing Myself
There will be varying answers on this. In the beginning, some people find that they will go up and down a few pounds from day to day, but the trend is always down. Some people lose in a stair-step pattern. That wasn't me. So I weighed almost every day to see the magic... (I travel a lot and can be away from the scale for 5-6 days sometimes). I dropped weight almost every time. I lost nothing pre-op, so I think that had something to do with it. If you find that it's making you crazy to see the scale fluctuate, then I'd weigh a couple times per week during the first year or so.
At maintenance I suggest weighing every day...so that three pounds doesn't turn in to 20, 30, 50...etc.

I'm still only 2 months post-op, but I weigh myself every morning after I've gone to the bathroom and before I put on clothes. I also take the weight with a grain of salt-- I don't give it much thought within a 4-5lb range. Something else to consider: I measure myself once a month and log those measurements with an app called "Body Tracker" so that I can see where my weight is coming off.

I wish I would have taken better measurements. It was depressing to see how big I was, so I stopped before I got them all! Now I will occasionally do some spots, and I've seen a definite downward trend, but I wonder about the other places, and how many inches I've lost there. Definitely measure before surgery!
I am another one with a morning routine. Nekkid, dry hair (hey, I have long hair, it weighs something!), after I've pottied (and I prefer a poo there, but it doesn't always go my way hahaha!), and before anything AT ALL goes in my mouth!
With that being said, so far I've been pretty good with not obsessing over it. If I start to obsess, or it starts to affect my views, then I will cut it down to once a week, but for now, it's one of the reasons I get up in the morning

People's opinions will vary. At first, I only weighed at dr's office - every ~2 weeks - I was always pleasantly surprised. At 3 months I bought a scale and once a week was enough-every Sunday.
Even while losing, you may be unpleasantly surprised about how much day to day variability you have. I focused on what I needed to do and let the weight come off. I never drove myself crazy with a '4-day stall' and such nonsense.
I take measurements the first Sunday of each month.

I was a "lightweight" (BMI 39) when I started and down 35 pounds by surgery time (6 months later). I assumed my weight loss would be slow so I weigh once a month (it actually has been faster than expected). Regardless, once I get to goal I'm planning on once a week. I know myself enough (from the old weigh****chers days) to know that I can easily get discouraged by daily fluctuations, so I chose to do it this way - fits my personality. Once at goal, after weighing I will plan my eating the following week based on where I am in the 5 pound range I set - I decided this based on some great advice from the OH community.
