Bad WLS Example, that is me

I've been reading a lot on  'burning calories' per say. Most of the things I've read say that is not accurate at all. Concentrate only on what you actually consume, alcohol included. I believe there are about 100 calories in a shot of vodka. If you do drink, add that number (Plus whatever mixers you use) to your daily number. Don't subtract those 'exercise' calories.

I haven't started drinking again, but I am planning to drink this month for a trip to Key West (my doc gave me a 90 day no drinking rule, so I'll be clear by then). I will have to add in those calories, but I plan on bringing my Mio flavors and just ordering a vodka and water, and adding my mio in so I don't have any extra calories from the mixers LOL. Perhaps I've been planning this too much? hahaha (FWIW, I won't continue drinking when I get home... not until I reach goal, and then it'll have to fit into my macros)

Pull out your favorite outfit from the closet of clothes that don't fit anymore. Try it on weekly. stand in front of the mirror with the buttons not meeting up, with the shirt too tight... use it as an incentive to get there! (I am doing this now, as I'm only 11.5 weeks out, I pull out old clothes and try them on all the time. It's so exciting when they finally do fit!)

And lastly, don't beat yourself up! Positive mind is a good thing, and will help you! You've messed up, but not completely! Take a hold of the situation now and win! I bet you'll be back in those gorgeous clothes again soon!

I would try it at home before you go. To see how your body will handle. Some people it has different effects on them. Just like foods try them at home before you go.

Nothing is more embarrassing than needing to be carried out of a place.

Well, with the people we're going with, and being in Key West, I wouldn't probably be the first one carried anywhere

But that's a good point. If i can find a weekend that I'm not working Real Estate, or running a ton of errands I'll try to have a drink in there! Maybe I'll go by the liquor store and get one of those little airline bottles! hahaha

I don't want to keep it in the house, because I love to have a drink to relax after work, and I'm 'in the zone' as far as my diet goes. I don't want to tempt myself with a nice cool drink after work!

Great idea about buying just one little bottle of vodka to try.

When I was cutting down my wine drinking - I would not trust myself that I would just drink one glass. If I had a bottle of wine - I drank at least 1/2 ...if not the whole bottle in a day.. (depends how early - late I started having wine)

So I decided that if I really want wine - I would just buy 1-2 servings...I.e small 8oz bottle...or the individual glasses of wine.   That really worked well for me.  Now - we have bottles of booze at home . and wine and beer. They no longer "bother" me.

Oh a bottle of wine is just so easy to drink! I used to buy the box because it lasted longer

I think I decided no wine, unless I'm out somewhere and it's one glass... the calories are higher. I do drink very dry reds, but still, I don't need to be drinking a bottle in a few months again.

I second the recommendation to try it at home first.  I'm 10 months out and have tried about 2oz of red wine twice since surgery both times I was in the bathroom violently vomiting and then felt shaky for an hour.  Not fun.  Also not going to bother with it again my stomach does not like red wine.

I drink Vodka/Water and add flavors....people look at me like it is a brilliant idea once they realize what I am doing. I do not drink often, but feel this is a reasonable way to have a drink.

So what's your favorite flavor?? I'm thinking blueberry pomegranate, but I wanted to bring more than one flavor!

Here is a great one: 1.5 oz shot of UV Blue (100 calories), a packet of Crystal Light Lemonade, water and lots of ice.

I just want to say even though someone does drink and have had WLS doesn't mean they are an alcoholic. I just don't want people to think I am judging them.

Wanted to clarify that.
