NSV - "normal"

This last weekend was our annual family reunion.  I missed last years because I had just gotten out of the hospital so I hadn't seen some of them for 2 years.  They were amazed and very complimentary but the best thing happened with my 11 yo niece who sees me all the time.....

When she got there, there weren't a lot of people yet.  She ran up and gave me a big hug and helped me unload the car. Then she ran off to play.  I got my new reunion tshirt (2 years ago it was a 4X and a bit snug- this year a XL and a little loose!) and put it on.   After a while my niece comes running up and give me a HUGE hug "What's that for??" (not that I didn't mind it!!)  and she responds:  "I was looking all over for you Aunt Amy and couldn't find you... you blend in with everyone else!"  I hugged her so tight :)

I also figured out what to bring to a pot luck - I went to Costco and bought a half ham and took that!  The cost of the ham was what I would have spent buying stuff to make a dish that I wouldn't eat and this way, I KNEW there was something there I was comfortable with!!

It feels really good for people to notice!

Sorta?  A year out and it's getting easier to accept them but I still have a hard time.

Especially when she got her arms ALL the way around me!

Congratulations. I know I always say NSVs are the best. But they really are. When the scale doesn't move but we can now is a great feeling.
