Goals.... How do you set them ?
So I see people setting goals ... I want to be able to set goals and reach them to help keep me motivated and not just look at the long term .... Weigh 125 kinda thing that feels so far away ......SO.... My question is... Since I'm following all the rules and losing about 1 lb a week, how do I go about setting goals and reaching them .... Is there anything I can do more than the calories at 800 carbs under 50 , protein 65 minimum and water 100 oz ?
Any suggestions welcome.

I like to set goals that aren't tied to the scale at all. A few big ones, and lots of little ones.
I had four major ones when I had surgery:
- Get off blood pressure meds
- Get off CPAP
- Ride 40 miles in the annual city bike race
- Have a healthy pregnancy
Totally met them all! And there were lots of non-scale goals en route, both outcome-related and "working the process." Some of them were:
- Lose 10lb, 20lb...
- Wear pants that are one size smaller... and another...
- Be able to wear a bra with skinny straps
- Go for a walk 4+ days per week
- Take my vitamins every day
- Ride 1 mile (or 2, or 5...) further today than I did last time
- Keep my cycling pace .2mph faster than last time
- Get my engagement ring
- Make it to week [WHATEVER] of Couch to 5k

I have goals, some are big, and some are smaller...
My Scale goals:
Break into Onderland (I was 203 this morning, soon!)
Break 179 (I got down to there last time I lost a lot of weight and SWORE I'd never gain it back... sigh)
Non Scale goals...
I buy something that doesn't fit me - or pick something out of my closet - and then try it on weekly until it fits
feel how my chair at work fits
Lose enough for my wedding ring to be too big (getting close!)
Be able to see... ahem... parts of my body when I shave (and it's NOT my legs!)... Again, getting closer!
Crossing my legs more and more comfortably
Pull a few things out, and then wait for them to come to fruition! I've also read of using 10-20lb goals as a way to set them...

I have a goals list per month-
some are exercise goals like:
try stand up paddleboard yoga
go to yoga class
jog 3 times a week for the month
I also have weight goals based on my trends.
so my surg date was dec 15- so I have goal of weighing xxx but Aug 15
Then I have goals for Weigh xxx but august 31.
I try to do new exercise or something new each month, even if it is taking a swim or water aerobics class, spinning, going to an indoor jump park. stuff I would NEVER have done before.
clothes goals do not appeal to me- they either fit or they don't. if they don't - just give it more time and it will....
To followup-My goals for Aug are:
Weigh 145 by Aug 15
Weigh 140 by Aug 31
This I will likely not hit but I will sure try!
Continue 10k training
Run on the beach
Do some yoga on the beach
Use my reformer on my off days
use my free pass to the aquatic center
go to kinetix gym and take aquatic, yoga and zumba class
Those are some really good goals and I'm really thinking I HAVE Got to get out of my comfort zone on moving my body and getting in some work outs

I didn't set any 'official' goals but I had definite goals in my mind. Be able to not need a seatbelt extender on a plane. Not wear plus size clothing. Not use my CPAP anymore. And I also set mini weight goals beyond my large main goal so that I could focus on those. 202 pounds was overwhelming to think about 0- I started out at 377 pounds, my first goal was 350 pounds, then 325, then 300, and so on. That way I could focus on those without freaking myself out thinking about the long term goals.
