Please stop eating crap right after surgery!
You might be talking about my cousin. I have relayed his story. He had gastric bypass. Went back to his farm in the middle of no-where to recover with his family.
About a weekout the family (not him) had pizza for dinner. He claims he had just a little bit. It landed in him the small town's ER, he was in so much pain and distressed. The small town ER docs were so scared they were preparing to air lift him to Grand Forks.
Flash forward 5 years later, he looked almost too skinny, flash forward about a decade post op and he has gained ALL his weight back. He admits it is his poor choices and not working his surgeons plan because "Food tastes too damn good".
The pre-op and post/op liquid phases reset our taste buds. It would do us well NOT to eat the incorrect/bad foods and get a "taste" for them again.

Three pounds below Goal!!! Yay !
This story sounds similar, but the one I read was someone whose workplace decided to throw him a party for the surgery. That's when said individual ate half of a pizza and blew his pouch out.
I feel bad for your cousin, though. Also, if he was around people while eating the pizza, why the hell did they let him do that? They all must've known he had WLS. They're not loving him by enabling that!
It just amazes me. I avoid those foods now because not only are they not good for me, but they also have the risk of doing serious damage to my body.
I'm still in disbelief that people actually do this! I've not read a post yet with someone so stupid to do such a thing! I am guessing it's a mental instability that should have been caught with their pysch evaluation??
Tell me you aren't referring to someone here... please?

There has been many people not far out from surgery & eating crap, its been happening a lot lately.

No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another. T-Rebel
Hi T,
Yes, it does seem to be happening more and more and that is why I wanted to try and put it out there again. It's not like when we were doing WW or any of the other 1000 diets we tried and fell off the wagon. If that happened we felt bad and moved on. But this can put you in the hospital

I can't like this enough Kathy?
And everyone, it doesn't have to be a half of a chocolate cake or pizza to be a horrible choice. While it may not hurt you, eating a couple of bites of various things that aren't on your plan right after surgery is a really, really bad sign.
Some use the excuse that "everyone screws up sometimes." Not right after surgery they don't. Most of the really successful people I see are like machines. They are strictly on plan until they reach goal.
Stay on plan!

Yes Grim, thank you. Everyone makes a mistake...we learn and move on. But eating burgers drinking shakes just a few days out? Even if they were several months out, I would send a nice don't do that again message but just a few days out?
We see this a lot on the boards and I had to try and get the message out.
