I just got a Fitbit HR so I was reading up on target heart rate and found this article.  I though I would share it.

Because it's a scientific fact that you must eat less calories than you burn to lose fat, nutrition has a much more powerful impact on this equation and consequently, it should be your main focus.

Excellent additional takeaway.

Thanks for sharing.  I have a Fitbit and I got my wife one too.  It's great because it quantifies my movements, we just got back from a cruise and my wife and I would compete to see who moved more in the day.

All is great. But ...if someone follows low carb diet for a while their glycogen stores are low to very low - so high intensity workout may deplete that even more causing Blood Sugar Crash aka hypoglycemia. That then need to remedies by eating carbs... I am not saying that high intesity cardio is bad - but in some cases - the slow and steady wins the race..long term.

I know that I can do weight lifting, yoga, walking and hiking... But very intense cardio - and my BS crashes.. And I need to stop and eat carbs...that then cause insulin release and another BS drop...

The guy describes things for normal people... Body builders... Btw - a lot of the are not as healthy as they think they are....  Lot of exercise put a lot of stress on the body...

^^^^^ what H.a.l.a. said.

Most trainers advocate high  carb's.  This can be a problem for us.  I have seen quite a few post op runners gain weight as they need the quick carbs to provide energy for long runs.

What's healthy for us is often completely different then a normal person.

Totally with you on carbs. If I don't have SOMETHING carby before going out on a 20-mile bike ride, I bonk hard. But I can't eat what a non-WLS cyclist would do, and it's really hard to find the balance since nobody has advice appropriate for us.
