Anyone use a Kid's Menu card?

No.

Cracker barrel lets anyone order off the kids menu, and I do. Otherwise I do ala carte, share with a kid, add something to hubby's or bring it home .

We don't eat out often though.

My husband refers to Cracker Barrel as "Country Gourmet" since he can never remember its name.

Not at all.  Kids menus are full of simple carbs and not enough protein.

I order from seniors menus when available.  Senior menus have smaller servings but generally more protein and healthier choices.  Nobody has asked my age (started at age 50 before WLS, now 61).  Nor have I told anybody that I have had WLS.

Many adult menus now offer lighter servings in addition to full servings.

Never used it. Most kids menus feature fatty things like hot dogs or fried things I'm not really interested in eating. I either share with hubby or if something else sounds good I take leftovers  home for lunch the next day (or 2).

I have never actually pulled out the card, but I have ordered a kids meal twice.  One time was a grilled chicken breast on the kids menu and another time was a kids size steak.  I have found that most restaurants accommodate any request, so I just tell them what I need and they always figure out a way to work it out.  We travel a lot and many times they will just add a shrimp skewer to another person's entree or serve me an appetizer portion.  Just ask the server for help in getting what you need.  Also, leftovers were good for me early on too, so that is always an option.  I just felt that I ate so little, I wanted something fresh and good each meal.  But my husband is always up for my leftovers.

If I am at a drive thru, I will order off kids menu. They don't care. If I am at a sit down restaurant, I order meat veg of the adult menu and take home the rest. I have at least one meal left of meat and 2-3 or more of veg.

I don't have the card. Sometimes I would just order a side of meat and a veg. Most restaurants are accommodating.

Restaurants are under no obligation to honor these wls cards any more than they would if you were to just ask without disclosing your medical history to strangers.

I've explained that I love good food, but have a tiny appetite, and ask for half portions.  Many places are glad to accommodate my request.  If there's a senior menu, like at Bob Evans, it's got much healthier options than a kids menu.

Another strategy not discussed yet is around buffets.  I do the same explanation and ask if I can pay by the pound instead of the flat price.  I did this my first years post op.  Today, 11+ years later, I pay full price, and get dibs and dabs of all kinds of things.

Yes! I use mine and always ask chicken fingers to be grilled and fries subbed with green veg. I've never had an issue and always eat at a steak house for under $7

I dont have a card, but I do order from the kids menu and explain that I have had bypass surgery.

You know what I do NOW! I LIE and tell the wait staff and I have DIABETES and I get to make all the substitutions/removals of bad carbs (like buns) that I want. I got a medical ID tag on my wrist (for asthma and peniciliin allergies if they were to flip it over) and they buy it hook line and sinker.

I got this bright idea after watching my diabetic husband get healthy salads instead of french fries swapped out with NO QUESTIONS asked. Me? The same restaurant, I got a bunch a bull about wanting to make a few adjustments.

So rather than argue, I just say "I am diabetic too and I NEED a salad instead of fries too!"

Problem solved, no "food fights"

I don't have a card, but nothing on the kid's menus are really healthy so I stick to the adult menus anyway.
