Hate it
I hate that I compare my weight loss to others all the time on here. I don't get why I am losing at sloth speed...but I guess the positive is I'm still losing. I can see that I'm looking better but that stupid number dictates my mood constantly. And now I'm not allowed to workout for a few days because of some mouth surgery I had which has stressed me to no end. This mental game of weight loss is extremely terrifying at times for me and I know I need to just get over it lol.
I just felt like complaining for a minute. Thanks for listening :)
Happy Friday everyone!
I AM EXACTLY RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE! I hate it too! I am losing at a sloth speed. I was 238 day of surgery and I'm almost at 5 months now and I am at 204. The number on the scale dictates what my attitude will be like for the day or week. I try hard not to step on the scale every day but it's hard not to. On the bright side though...I don't have diabetes any longer. I try to stay on track with my diet plan and hope I am successful with this in the long run. Good luck to us Both.
Looking at your ticker, it looks like you are perfectly on track. The average seems to be losing 50% of our excess weight by the six month mark. The mental part is the hardest.

The good news is if you stay on plan you will get where you want to be! It's hard not to want it off NOW but believe me in a year when you're at goal and learning maintenance you won't be feeling so wrapped up in the timing of things. It's not a race. Give your body time to catch up!
I had a revision starting weight of 252 pounds and was 236 the day of surgery. I hit my goal of 130 pounds by 12 months and got as low as 113. I'm steady now between 125-130 and this seems a good spot for me. You'll be posting similar results before you know it! Good luck.
Of course put the scale away. Weigh weekly. Focus on what you can control -
Prot gms per day
Carb gms per day
Total cals per day
Exercise per day
Vits taken each day
Support Grp Meetings - daily, weekly or monthly - as needed
PS I might have missed something, so add what you or your dr think reasonable.

Well in the last month I have lost only 5 lbs, the month before was the same. It just seems like it should be more at this point. Maybe I am just expecting too much, but 5 lbs seems so little. Calories are ranging 800-1000 depending on the day. The higher calorie days above 800 seem to be the days I work out hard at the gym. But some days I will only eat under 800 on a gym day. It just depends. The thousand calorie days aren't all the time, maybe twice a week I get to that point. I stay away from carbs, am getting in enough protein, and taking my vitamins. The water is still a situation for me and force myself to drink what's needed daily. I almost feel like I'm doing something wrong cause of the snail pace. If I stick to the 5 lbs a month it will take me awhile to reach my goal weight.
I don't know if you pre plan your menu for the day. It really does help. Even if it ends up changing a little there was still a plan.
The food and the exercise are too different things. The exercise makes us feel good and motivates us but isn't what is going to make you lose the weight. What we put in our mouths makes us lose the weight. Be careful not to eat more just because you exercised...you might not even be doing it consciously. From what I see most people stay under 1000 calories during weight loss.
If you can get past the games in your own head, weighing daily can be a useful tool. Helps me to constantly evaluate what I am doing.
You are moving in the right direction. Kudos to that!
