Thank you Chris! I have been reading your posts since I started this in February and I want to say you have been an inspiration to me. Keep up the good work and know that people do read what you post even if they don't say anything :)

My surgery and recovery went like others who have posted before me. I was up walking around in Bass Pro three days after surgery and was walking the halls and outside gardens of the motel the day after my surgery. Just remember to walk and drink, walk and drink. Good luck, you got this!!!

I'm 9 days out - I was off all pain meds by day 3 and I can do nearly everything I could do before, except eat. The only thing that bothers me at the moment is bending down to pick something off of the floor or weeding my flower beds. I can do it but it's a bit uncomfortable in the area of my stitches. I could easily attend a wedding this weekend. You'll do fine!

This delay may actually work in your favor.  Based on my experience, you will feel well enough to attend the wedding and enjoy yourself - dance reasonably - think some slow dancing, not hours of break dancing and the limbo.

If you have nothing to do help your daughter but show up 5 min before the wedding begins, then no problem. If you plan on helping her, then at 3 weeks, you probably will not be cleared to carry and lift all the things that PREPARING for a wedding may entail.  You do not want to lift a heavy flower arrangement and bust a gut.  Think ahead and get prep work for the wedding done before your WLS.  Make sure you have plenty of help on the day of the wedding, so you will not be tempted to do to much.

At the risk of some flipping out, you cannot count on being 100% after 3 days - it would be great, and our prayers for a speedy recovery are said for all of our commrads in WLS, but don't count on it.  Your speed of recovery depends on many things including your general health going into surgery, age, reaction to anesthesia, and any complications that happen during the surgery.

Use this week of delay to help your daughter get as many of the last min details completed as possible.  And may the force be with you during your surgery - your surgeon's concerns for your safety and giving you the best results possible are great.

Sorry for your delay but the good news is that you are so close to improving your life.  I am now day 13 post-op VSG and would much prefer being here than pre-op if I had to travel, do a wedding for family, etc.  I am on a liquid diet which would make attending a wedding this weekend much easier for me than having to resist food during a pre-op stage.  And keeping my eyes on the prize, by the time I attend the wedding I will have tremendous support from everyone I see so that will be GREAT!  Good luck either way!  It's all good for someone like you that is having a wedding AND a metamorphosis too!
