On me and it is a lot of food.

First I can throw some IN my hydration vest which is this:

Then the hydration vest has a cross-strap:

So I have the food in these squoo****hings (reusable) end clamp it on wiht bull dog clips

Do you find that the hydration pack gets too hot in the sun, since it's black? I used to have a camelbak for cycling, but it was red and black so it got REALLY hot when I was out. WAY gross to be drinking warm water when it's hot out!

HI!  It is hot out so stuff gets warm after hours and hours no matter what.

This hydration pack is made out of neoprene (i.e. wetsuit material) so it is fairly insulated. I fill my hydration pack up with primarily ice. Then cold water to fill the gaps. As I run, the ice melts. I do not feel the "coldness" form the hydration pack.

The other day, it was 90 something with a heat index of 102.  The hydration pack kept it mildly cold for 3 hours. Like it was cooler than the environment with pebbles of ice you would feel in your mouth but it wasnt ice cold.

Also even though the tube on the hydration pack is insulated with neoprene (so the tube wont freeze)..THA****er in the tube was definitely warm. And it wasnt yummy. But what do you do?

I thought about the other colors (teal, grey and navy blue). The issue was...I dont like navy blue. The other issue is, I am a klutz and a "dirty person". When I wear white I can spill coffee on me, tea, wine, or rub up against something greasy or dusty or manage to sit on the only open magic marker in the state.  So any other color than black gets ruined fairly quickly around me.

Thanks for the info, that's really helpful! I don't care about ice cold, even room temperature is fine by me :)

I'm the same way with picking colors! Black gear is boring, so I have to pick out weird colors. My cycling shoes are high-viz yellow, just because I like that best!

I really like my dolphin pack. I have had back surgery and it is made with a slimmer profile (and less capacity/weight) than camelbaks.  I watched several other runners and their camelbaks and a few looked like they had some "swing" to them and that would put me back on the back surgery table.

The dolphin pack is slim enough to fit under a winter coat for skiing  or to wear stand up paddle boarding (i.e. it shouldnt throw off the center of gravity too much).

With that said, call the company and measure them. They say "one size fits all" but that is not true. I wear a small top in adult or a Youht large (my body ate my boobs in the weight loss phase). It fit me fine. My husband, no matter how I adjust it, has football player shoulders and chest. He is just 165-168 lbs, it did NOT fit him now matter what we did.

So, if you have more boobs than a 14 year old, this hydration vest might not be for you. Call them and see what it expands to.

Good to know! I've got broad shoulders and a long torso, so things can fit funky sometimes. We've got an REI in town, maybe I'll just go down there and try things on.

Do you want to part with that camelbak?  My hubby would like a hydration pack...

I sent it to my dad, who doesn't live in the desert, so sadly I don't have it anymore. It was a pretty cheap entry level one, I paid less than $20 for it at Target. Not sure if a sling-type would work for your hubby, but at that price he could certainly try it and give it away if it doesn't work.
