Hi everyone! am new to this board. scheduled for RNY in about 6 weeks. am looking for some sort of guidebook or article/brochure to help family members and friends understand what I will be going through, new food norms for me and how they can support me through this. have found a few short articles online but nothing comprehensive like I'm looking for. anyone know of any resources out there?

I think you could provide them with a copy of the "manual" you got when you started the process.  It has a tone of information.

Alex Brecher has written  books on all the various surgeries. You'd look for "the big book of RNY". You can find it on Bariatric Pal, Amazon and possibly find used ones on ebay. It can easily become your "surgery bible". Very, very thorough, truthful and so very useful.

I gave my family the Weight Loss Surgery For Dummies book - it's comprehensive and not overly medical. Plus it was a good read for me too!

I got this one also, it was really helpful! There was a lot of practical advice, and the explanation of surgery was very straightforward. My mom was very nervous about my surgery, but it really helped put her at ease.

Ditto on Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies.  My husband'd concerns were addressed by it.
