Lyme Disease
Hello All,
I had been more sick since 4th of July since I had RNY 5 1/2 years ago. I went to my Primary Care Physician this morning. He diagnosed me with Lyme Disease. I will be on antibiotics for 3 weeks. He said it seems we caught it early which is a good thing.
The reason I am posting this is to see if anyone post op has had to deal with this. If so, any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!
One interesting thing is as a result of appetite I have lost 5 pounds....still how I have felt is not at all worth it!
Yours in WLS Journey,

I had Lyme pre-op (about 15 years ago) and it was the sickest I have ever been and I'm very grateful for a tenacious doctor who ignored the CDC which said Lyme had not yet come to Virginia at the time. I was the first documented case here and since then, many others have been diagnosed. Fortunately, like you, it was diagnosed and treated early... although I was on antibiotics for 6 months... I suspect protocols have changed in the last decade and a half.
Feel better very soon. And he is right that it was good to have caught it early.
An adoptive mom friend of mine is battling lyme and has been doing so for years. HERE is her website. She has written a book and writes a blog about her struggle to control the disease. I hope your treatment is successful so that you do not have to go through all that she has gone through.
