B12 injection syringe size

I tried to search and most recent I found was around 2012

Curious what people are using for the syringe size on their injections (for those that do their own)?

I just picked up my prescription... the pharmacist said 23G x 1.5" (0.6mm x 40mm)

These things are HUGEEEEEEEEEE

Everything I've read online is 5/8". This is almost 4 times larger!

I'm fine with giving myself injections, getting blood, giving blood, etc... but this? I'm not so sure about 1.5".

The higher the gauge the most comfortable the needle.  I would take them back and get 30 or 31 gauge 5/16" syringes.

If your doctor wrote a script for those monster size needles, ask him for a new script.

Well... It depends if a person is trying to do injections in a muscle or fat only. Most docs would tell you that muscular B12 works better . In that case a person may need a longer needle to do IM injections. Specially when the muscles are still covered with a lot of fat.

I am skinny now, and I can reach my muscles with 1/2" needle. But the 5/16 Would not work for me.

I buy mine on line.  Most pharmacy don't carry 30 x1/2" needles. I get mine from a diabetic supply place. Really cheap.. Syringes with a needle.

We use 22-25 gauge needles to administer  b 12 . It has to be intramuscular , so a smaller needle is no good .

I hate needles- I'm taking sublingual b-12 now- hopefully my levels will stay up and I won't have to go shot routes. Not sure I can handle it.

My Doc prescribed 22G x 1 1/2" long...

I had my first one last night.

These go in the muscle, which is why they are so long and big! It really didn't hurt at all, and I'm a wimp when it comes to shots ;)
