Great article on WLS and 10 years later

Wow, being able to re-interview 60% of patients is pretty damn good for an analysis that big.
Regaining an average of 75% of EWL is a bit discouraging, but certainly better than regain WITHOUT surgery. Goes to show how important it is to be compliant after the honeymoon!

Thanks - I could not get the article (for free) but the stats were encouraging. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26720434
(if anyone can get it)
I saw 2 other longterm studies with similar results. One said that at 10 years most WLSers are deficient in some vitamin or mineral - so stay on top of the vits and minerals.
This one shows that for non-accidents, WLSer's death rate is 40% lower than similar people who did not have the surgery. However, deaths from accidents and suicide increased for WLSers from 6 to 11 deaths per 10,000 people. So, be careful driving and if you are having a touch of depression - get it checked out.
