Hello Dee. I don't mind you asking at all!

-original open Roux En Y Gastric Bypass in July 2002

-Unsuccessful Gastro-Gastric Fistula repair in July 2012 (the sutures to close fistula and pouch connection to old stomach didnt stay closed.)

-Different revision procedure scheduled for next week July 5th. He will be resecting almost the entire old stomach, resizing my pouch a little by cutting away where the fistula connects. Possible fixing my stoma area as well. It will be a 4 hour procedure, and he told me that I will be able to feel restriction after I eat a small amount again.

The surgery did work, it was the only thing that ever has helpef me lose weight, but I have had problems since my stomach basically grew back togethet via these Fistula's.

YES, Chapstick! I totally forgot...

And a word to the wise... don't leave it on your food tray, or you will have no more chapstick! LOL

All I brought was my phone, charger, and chapstick.  I really never even used my phone much, I was too sleepy.

I stayed only one night.

I agree about trying different protein shakes but know that you may not like the same shakes after surgery that you liked before.  I loved premier protein before surgery, but for the first 4-5 weeks after surgery I hated it.  Now I drink it every day again, go figure.

Good luck!

Most important thing for the hospital stay - a good soothing lip balm.  I couldn't live without it.

Protein shakes can be monotonous after a time.  I bought Premier Protein RTD and added one tablespoon of sugar free dry jello pudding mix with a couple of ice cubes, then zapped it in the blender.  The change in flavors helped.
