Swimming three weeks post-op?

My family is planning to go boating on Saturday. It's going to be over 90 degrees, so it would feel really good to be able to join them swimming in the lake. I will be three weeks post-op. Is there anything I can put over my incisions so I can go in the water?  Like a waterproof type of bandage?

TIA!

I think you should speak to your Doctor! But sounds like fun?

I was told no immersion into water until 6 weeks. Definitely speak to your surgeon.

I'm sure my surgeon will say the same thing, and I don't want to risk an infected incision. Guess I'll just sweat it out, lol.

I wouldn't even go out on the boat. Good luck.

If your incisions aren't healed yet, keep out of the lake.  There is all kinds of bacteria that would love to sneak inside of an open wound and have a party in your gut.

I've wondered about this too. I'll be having surgery soon and it will be so hard to be off 2 weeks in the summer and not be able to get in the pool!

I had open heart surgery on March 23 and was completely cleared for any activity on May 10.  On May 28, I went into a sparkling clean chlorinated pool on the first day of the swimming season.

I developed a wound infection.  There was unknown to me a tiny open spot smaller than a pinhole, but infection developed and it took several weeks of doctor visits and antibiotics to clear it up.
