I was in pain from the gas for a week, my incisions(staples) pissed me off when they kept rubbing on my clothes (had to keep them for 3 weeks) and was cranky as hell for 2 weeks. Now it's rainbows and sunshine. Don't lose hope :)

It will get better soon. But still  won't be able to gulp any liquids very fast. You swallow too much air, that causes gas, bloating & fills up the sleeve instead of food.

sugarfree ice pops are a great idea to satisfy the need for something cold & alse the need to chew.

I am 5 years out, at goal & maintaining by following the rules. When I don't, my body lets me know.

The loss of appetite never bothered me & still doesn't. You will now eat because you must, but not because you want to.

Good luck.

April, you are not whiny at all. You are being HONEST, and IMHO, that is critical. I am planning on surgery this fall and need to hear as much as possible about the things that are hard and painful and the surprises along the way, so I appreciate your candor. After even a week or two, when people feel  better, they might not remember the initial pain and "buyer's remorse," so hearing about it when it is still fresh in your mind is really important. Keep up the good work, and the honesty!
