New Procedure for weight loss
Oh my holy hell...that's disgusting. Like Jen stated; it's medically assisted bulimia! There seems to be massive potential to abuse it.
Sadly, I'm not surprised it's been approved. I hope it costs 25K or more and isn't covered by insurance. I don't want people to have to stay obese, but there are better options than this monstrosity.

There is no way in hell this device would help me make better food choices, regardless of any "health-based nutrition class" I would take in conjunction with its use. The exact opposite would happen, as I would see any temptation as acceptable, as I could just purge it away.

I think that exact scenario is going to happen quite often in people who have that device implanted. Scary.

Thanks for posting - I heard "prescribed bulimia" on the TV but I didn't know what they were talking about. I have to say there were times when I could have used it, but IMHO it's a very poor solution and keeps people stuck in the binge/purge cycle - just that the purge is more gentle.

Whaaaaaat? That sounds terrible tbh!
Like someone else mentioned, it sounds like a medically assisted eating disorder!
Not one to judge someone else's choices but that one doesn't sound so great at all!
OMG! This is physician assisted binge and purge! It will NOT teach anyone to eat healthy.

The article says it is not medically assisted bulimia. Well, I just don't see any other name to call it. It's basically bingeing and purging through a tube. Duh!! Hence, bulimia!! It seems really gross to me and horrific and not at all helpful to the person as far as teaching them a new lifestyle and how to be healthier. Wow!! What will they come up with next?! EEK!!
