Luckily I only have to drink 2 (60g of protein) protein shakes. The instructions say for the last week I can only have the Isopure clear protein drinks. I wonder why though.

I totally agree with you. There are 2 reasons to stay on the diet - that it will shrink your liver and make your surgery easier and safer.  Second, that there are many instructions that you will need to follow in the future, so this is a test to see if you can distract yourself, etc.  These are WEAK reasons, I totally agree.  I applaud you for your determination to stick with it. 

One thing I think is good to do pre-op, is to get as mobile as you can.  You will need to walk after surgery to avoid blood clots and to get the swelling out.  You don't need to run a marathon, but you will be walking a few hours after you get out of pre-op.  If you cannot walk well in bare feet/socks, take walking shoes with you.  You will recover faster if you can walk more.
