This preop diet is some bull**** lol
Bear in mind that I had my surgery in the olden days, but I had no pre op diet just nil by mouth after midnight before surgery the next day. We old timers used to say that surgeons with liquid diets just hated fat people!
Stick to your plan as best you can. It's a process and this is the worst of it.
Good luck!

The preop diet is hard for sure. My advice is to create a list of activities you can do during the times of day you are apt to want to break your diet. Coloring, Zentangle, dog play, and walks are my go to activities. When I come home from work, I always want to snack. But if I walk immediately after I get home, I can avoid that temptation and just eat dinner. Hopefully you can find some activities to help get you through these two weeks.

I know it's really hard but you can do hard things! It will get better around day 4 when you get through your carb withdrawals. You will also see your scale numbers start to go down which will help with your motivation to stick with it. Hang in there.

I totally understand how you're feeling!! The pre-op diet was super hard, but worth it in the end!! Be strong, and try to include protein shakes. They make you feel more full! I am now almost three weeks post-op, and I can already tell that this is the best thing I've ever done for myself! My tastes are changing, and I truly don't want to eat all the time, like I did before.

I guess that depends on what you want to "cheat" with -- cookies, cakes, fried foods, etc? Or salmon and veggies?
My suggestion - if you do decide to cheat - cheat with good food. Chicken salad, salmon, veggies, etc. stay away from sugar and carbs.
Even though this is difficult, you have a lot of support here. We all believe in you!!

I am 5 weeks pre-op and I am TERRIFIED of the pre-op diet. I don't like sweets and all these protein shakes are sweet. I tried a few already to see if I could tolerate them and found one I can tolerate but for how long Im not sure. I don't know if I can do it. I know I HAVE to though. Any advice? What have you tried that is decent and maybe not so sweet?
On my pre-op diet all I could drink was the Unury protein powders, mixed with almond milk. After the surgery however, I could not stand those, so I switched to Premier Protein. During the two week pre-op diet I was supposed to drink 4 each day ( i usually could only choke down 3) so I had to have a few different flavors on hand to break things up a bit.
