Strange but true...
I know someone who got scarily skinny, and still is. This is strictly because she did not listen to her surgeon. She never quit smoking, got addicted to painkillers, ate lots of sugar and carbs, didn't take her vitamins, and took medicines she was not supposed to take. Now she has problems for being underweight and still has a lot of the saggy skin from when she was 500 lbs (so minus the skin she's even more underweight). She has a feeding tube bc there have been so many operations on her stomach from strictures occurring due to her smoking. She has lost several teeth to malnutrition, has developed pneumonia, experienced kidney problems, been in a coma, and has almost died a few times.
So yeah, I know what NOT to do, and I just hope she gets better.

I'm sorry that this person has to go through all of that. As has been said this is not the easy way. I will definetly listen to my bariatric team and follow the plan. I quit smoking 14 years ago and thought that was the hardest thing ever but with great support I am still a former smoker. I am hopeful that my old support people in my life and my new support group through this forum will get me through my journey. Thank you for your thoughts.
You won't lose too much. It's far, far more likely that you won't lose as much as you want.
The first person in real life I encounter that has lost too much and is scary skinny will likely be riding a unicorn.
You'll be glad you did this. Surgery turned my life around. Smartest decision I ever made.
