Terrified of Match !

I posted a profile on Match.com and then didn't pay for it ( my usual pattern)  so I couldn't respond to the guys .  I really see some nice looking and good sounding dates there .  But when I think of responding - I'm TERRIFIED .  My body's full of scars ... I'm not the youngest or prettiest chick out here .. what if they don't LIKE me ?

Will I have  a total emotional meltdown if I don't get asked on a second date or ( god forbid  he asks .. how old are you REALLY ? )Has anyone here tried their EVENTS ?

I was . Honestly I think I jumped into a committed relationship  too early out and living together ( several times ) proved that our willingness to work.. our respective financial attitudes and sense of responsibility were just too different.

I can't  and won't support a guy and I like a really nice lifestyle . It comes down to wanting a PARTNER not a petulant forever demanding insecure jealous and unsatisfied man-child.

Good for you. Hope you can find someone who's willing to work as your equal in a relationship :)

Congrats - You escaped in time. But the divorce lawyers are disappointed.

OK, I have not done internet dating, but my friend's son gave my 70 yr old friend this advice:

1-Be communicating with at least 5, FIVE, guys at any one time

2-Meet for lunch or coffee - NOT dinner - too great an investment of time

3-drive yourself (a no-brainer)

4-Don't believe half of what is said

5-I forget the last, bt you get the idea - to some extend it's a numbers game - you may match.com a bunch of frogs before you find a prince/

Explore a little - maybe YOU won't want a second date with him.

TY !  Your kind and understanding support means so much to me :) How are YOU doing these days? I don't get on here nearly enough.

I just use Plenty of Fish which is free.  I used to be on the paid sites and found out that the same guys had profiles on POF.

If they don't like you or the scars, just go online and find another man.  There are a lot of great guys out there.

POF also has lots of events.

The answer is to smile and say that you never ask a lady her age.

I met my hubby on POF ;) Took a lot of dates with jerks before I found my knight in shining armour. And yes, the guys that are on Match are on POF...and multiple other sites.

Ava, online dating is a cattle market, NOT a place to hang out if you are unsure of yourself!

Having said that, I I met my wonderful fiance on POF and we've been together 4.5 years - he is awesome, so there are some good men out there.

Do not put sexy pics on your profile - you will attract ********  Make them pretty, preferably action shots that show you in an activity.  Be honest about yourself, your politics, religious beliefs etc, it will narrow your pool, but who wants to date someone who doesn't share your interests and moral values?

Good luck

Hi, I dated online (both POF & Single Parent Meet), but I had some really specific rules I went by:

I talked with them for weeks before moving to the next step which was texting.

I met them in a busy public place for lunch or coffee when I felt comfortable.

I was honest about my age & kid situation.

Me: I was overweight (I weighed 210 poundish at the time, I'm 5'7) I do have a large scar down my stomach as well as some others, I have excess skin on my abdomen (no matter what my weight never been happy about it) and at the time I was mid 40s.

My results: I met some great guys that have become just friends, met some awful jerks that were complete liars, met some players - was lucky enough to realize what they were, and met a very lovely man who was not perfect either & we dated for a year before we married. We have been married for 3 1/2 years now.

Good luck to you whatever you decide to do
