Is the VSG a sleeve or a pouch?

Do you notice the last word-itis he is suffering from?

What I see is constant defending bc he is always getting jumped on simply bc others don't like how he posts and wants to share everything about his exciting new world, correct or not. Vets just dont like him thats plain to see. 

You didn't happen to check my surgery date did you?

I got no time for hate. I  haven't been on here this many years to hate **** that.

If anyone including myself gave information that could cause harm I would to be expected to be informed.  Vets are not here to be haters but if you stick around my guess is you will figure that out.

I'm glad about you not being a hater. While I agree with you about being corrected due to causing harm, I just dont like the attitudes. I mean yes, correct away bc I wouldn't want someone to get hurt because of confusion. But the level of rudeness.. Wow! There are plenty of vets who state things matter of factly without putting someone down. People say he comes across as a "look at me" type, But to me, vets who constantly use their surgery date and experiences to imply they are better or holier than thou come across like that too. And thats all I dont like. Maybe its not intentional, but its just rude to constantly put people down like that. Its the deliverance, not the message. But hey, its a free world and everyone is different. 

Don't get me wrong I highly value the experience and input you vets have, as I fully intend on listening to you guys and learning from it. I just wish everyone could be a little nicer.

Ignorance and misinformation on WLS is rife in the medical profession, which bolsters your argument.   It's a shame, but you all go ahead with that if looking ignorant of your own surgery is important to you.  

The rest of us will continue to spread information and fight said ignorance.

There have been too many attacks on newer people for using supposedly wrong verbage or poor grammar. If it bothers any of you then move on or block! 

So Chris clears something up (with research!) on something he has been attacked repeatedly on and now he gets attacked again. Go figure.

It doesn't make anything clear. And it is not an issue of verbiage or grammar.

An RNY stomach and a VSG stomach are completely different things. Totally different. There is the presence (or absence) of a pyloric valve or stoma; great differences in length and diameter; acid production; location of bile ducts, etc etc etc. Totally different. How does calling them both by the same name make anything more clear?

Calling them by the same name confuses matters greatly. This is why the RNY stomach is called a pouch, and a VSG stomach a sleeve -- to make things MORE clear, not less.

Let's just call the whole digestive tract, from your mouth to your ass, "guts," OK? Just call it all guts, and that will make things crystal clear.

Why are you so hard up on calling the sleeve a pouch?  If it was indeed truly a pouch then it would be VPG not VSG.  Get over it and call it what it is classified as Vertical Sleeve Gastrecomy.

As you can see below there is a difference between a sleeve and a pouch.

I'm not hard on calling it a pouch at all. I just for some reason do instinctively. I try not to, actually. 

I just wanted to look up what the bariatric resources refer to it as, so that I would know if what I call it a pouch on accident and immediately get treated like I have special mental conditions, I would know that I was technically not incorrect

You have a good point about the vertical sleeve gastrectomy. Too bad the RNY doesnt have a P in it :P
