DEXA SCAN on MONDAY!

Electric impedance is wildly inaccurate. DEXA is the most accurate, especially for us.

 Well, I admit I was suspicious of the body fat % that my scale (WW brand, IIRC) showed, esp. since I have lower-limb lymphedema in both legs ..  but then I bought one of those Omitron hand-held impedance testers (which I was told is pretty accurate) and the % it showed was almost identical to that of the scale.  So I guess the reading must be accurate  ?       The downside is that my % is close to that of the % of a pork steak ..

I had the DEXA done at the same time I got a new fancy scale.  My DEXA scan said 32.9% body fat and my scale said 37%.  So a 5% difference.  

Same machines, different software...is my understanding.

Huh, this is really neat. I swear I learn something NEW every day here.

I always knew the DEXA scan was for yearly bone density scans but never knew it could do so much more! Good luck and thanks for the info, will have to have my Doc schedule me one this year to see what my body comp is.

The regular medical ones for bone density won't give you body fat information. Same machine, different software. You have to specifically go to a place that does dexa for body fat composition... you will also get your bone density measured.
