Does the broth have to be less salt? Or can it be regular because my husband bought me regular and now I don't know if I can use it! I am pre surgery (on optifast)

I don't know where you are in your progress, so you may want to check with your doctor...

I was encouraged to get low salt, but wasn't prohibited from having regular broth. As a matter of fact, I had broths from different Asian soups as well. My favorite being hot and sour soup. I just strained the 'goodies' out and drank the broth only.

Check with your doctor as to their preference :)

I made a homemade eggdrop soup the other day, was awesome! Once Im further along I want to make a hot and sour soup that is more bariatric friendly, even though the normal recipe isnt too terrible... Only thing is you'd be getting veggies and not protein forward. But for a treat meal maybe? Make a bunch of it and freeze in little quart bags

I love hot and sour soup!  I haven't really eaten it in a few years since I was diagnosed with a soy allergy and it has tofu and soy sauce in it.

I've been using both. Maybe next box or can try to get lower sodium but I wouldnt sweat it. If you feel you're retaining water then switch to clear water and try to get a good amount in.

I've been doing LOTS of broth for recovery and adding Isopure unflavored protein (half a scoop protein to 8oz of broth heated up). It makes it milky looking, but doesnt impart any flavor and adds I think 14g protein to it?

This is for pre surgery. I've mixed it with the low that I still have but he went and bought like 10 for me. Also I drink a lot of water (almost 4 L)

If you're worried about the sodium, you can water it down a little bit.
