NSV: *this* is why I did it

This weekend, I took my son (7 months old today) to the neighborhood pool for the first time. I think the kid is part fish! As we swam around in circles and splashed ourselves exhausted, I remembered that THIS is why I had surgery.

I had an uncomplicated pregnancy, and my son is healthy and happy.

I can buy a swimsuit off the rack at Target and not feel like an overstuffed sausage. I have jiggly bits, but so does any other 30-something woman who's been pregnant, and I'm at peace with it.

I can chase Little Dude all over without getting winded, bend down to pick him up, lift him in the air to fly like Superman, stick him in his baby carrier and take a long walk around the neighborhood without having my knees feel like they're going to implode. And I'll be able to do it for years to come, because I won't have a stroke before I'm 40.

Yes, I'm still fighting the bad food habits that came back in full force while I was pregnant-- even seven months later. We repeat it because it's true: surgery works on your stomach and not on your head. But even with Round Two of the constant battle and lots of moments of failure and frustration?

I did it. I'm doing it. And I'm glad.

This is an awesome reason for surgery. You will be able to play with HIS kids.

Oooh, hadn't thought of that! I'm already amazed that 7 months have gone so fast, I don't want to think about 20+ years, LOL :)

Words cannot explain how happy I am for you!!!  Seriously, you're teaching him how to swim, not wondering how to stay on the chair all covered up as long as you can.  Great role model for loving life.

Now isn't this the best NSV of all time?  Your little guy is adorable!  Mine is 2-1/2 and keeps me running constantly.  I am so grateful to have the opportunity to have this surgery because there is no way I'd be able to keep up now.

Congrats to you on all your NSVs and congrats on that sweet little boy.

He's soooooooooo completely adorable. That smile does me in, and he's not even my kid!!

I'm a little jealous, truth be told, but so happy for you that you got to be "skinny pregnant". I was MO for all of my pregnancies, and never got to fully delight in the pregnant belly the way you did.

I HAVE, however, gotten to experience that since my RNY. When I was having problems with "the go" ( thanks for the euphemism, Charmin. ), I LOOKED PREGGERS! I had a huge "baby bump" caused by uh...not going. I thought "Holy **** ( pun totally intended )...if I was skinny and preggo...this is what I'd look like!" Sorry. I overshared, didn't I?  ( aka I pulled a G. )

Anywho...now that I've gone from not enough caffeine to warp speed. This is where I leave you.

I woke up in between a memory and a dream...

I think anybody who's been through the "beauty" of pregnancy is allowed to overshare ;)

I originally thought, "sixty bucks? Can it REALLY be that useful?"

Kiddo absolutely ADORES it and it keeps him out of trouble while I cook. Double win!
