When will this end?
I am almost two weeks post op. I had my slipped band and port removed and converted to RNY. I am still in so much pain. OMG. It is wearing me down. I actually cried tonight. Up now with pain.
I am not a wimp. Have children and have sailed through another major surgery but this is the most pain I've ever been in. Went to post op appointment and they took out staples and said pain was to be expected.
I have seen where others are experiencing little to no pain. I am so happy for them, however that's not what I am experiencing.
I have horrible lower left back pain (around kidney area). Has anyone else had that. What's it from? Aprreciate any responses! ð??'
When will all this begin to subside?
Sorry you are having so much pain. I am sure a revision, is a little more complicated = more pain. gas and constipation can cause random pain in strange areas. Make sure you are walking as you can, and getting your water/fluids in. Both those things will help with general well being. Take the pain meds and stay on top of it.
Feel better and rest... you had major surgery.

This is NOT normal! If your surgeon is not taking you seriously, go to your PCP or if it's really that bad, to the ER.
Having a little discomfort after surgery is normal, but noone should be in PAIN at two weeks out, that is just ridiculous

I completely agree.
I hesitated to post because I thought, "Well, maybe it's different after a revision?"
But, even after my very invasive multiple incarcerated hernias surgery -- I was pretty damn good at two weeks out.
I am with you, Hala -- to the OP: if your surgeon isn't taking this seriously, then contact your PCP or even go to the ER. Even if it is just recovery from the surgery, you deserve pain relief.

Horrible lower back pain - are you prone to kidney stones? That sounds like kidney stone or kidney infection.
2 weeks out I was off my pain meds for longer than a week. Mild pain and discomfort is normal. Major pain - is not.

I know this feeling. My lower back was killing me and was the reason I kept taking my pain meds until I went to my primary care doctor who gave me a muscle relaxer to take and it worked wonders. I took them for about two weeks and then the pain finally went away, but if I stand for long periods of time it may hurt a bit. I would check with the doctor but keep moving is what I was told also.
Best wishes
I had a revision also from a gastric sleeve to a RNY. The surgeon had to take out part of my stomach, and do the RNY. I had a lot of problems with gas and constipation for about the first two and a half weeks and was in a lot of pain. You should definitely go in just to make sure something else is not wrong. They will be able to help you diagnose the issue and get you on the road to a pain free recovery.
I am so sorry you are having a difficult time. Everyone is different on how they recover and while I did great after my open RNY, it took me 4-6 weeks for a hernia repair.
I agree with the others, if your surgeon is not listening to you about your level of pain or the problems you are experiencing, talk to your PCP. At least get someone to acknowledge your issues and investigate if there is an underlying problem.
I hope things get easier for you. Please keep us updated!

I had several csections and thought it would be a breeze since I was out and about after giving birth, this surgery had me out for at least 6 weeks. I remember seeing someone who had their surgery on a Friday and back to work Monday, I don't know how they did it. Hard not to compare yourself with others but take it easy if you must. I had horrible back pain and it helped by walking around the living room as much as I can and my handy dandy heating pad. Get well soon, hugs to you.
