Wearing clothes that fit

Every week when I grocery shop I look at the clothes at Walmart too just to check. I almost always but a top there. And I get compliments on them too. I was a cheap shopper before though, that's just how I was raised. I don't spend a lot of money on clothes unless it's something I know I'll keep for a long time which these obviously aren't.

Definitely agree about the financial ramifications - I knew I would be needing a new wardrobe! Just trying to stretch out the old one as long as I can lol.

The boot cut jeans date my surgery lol.

I buy good shoes and good bags (a la Audrey).  Clothes?  Not so much.  Living in Colorado, everyone wears either jeans or yoga pants.  Wearing clean ones is "going fancy"

I'm definitely a skinny jeans girl now, and my new favorite are the distressed ones.  Don't like to see fat bulges out of the holes though - why do some women do that?

That's how my region of SC is too.....jeans, yoga pants. ( And of course, camo! )

I don't buy pricy clothes either. Target, and TJ Maxx are my go-to places these days, or consignment shops. I can get an expensive pair of jeans for $10...and they're already broken in. I still wear boot-cut jeans. I can't do skinny jeans or jeggings at all. I still have pretty meaty thighs..and the cankles..I just can't expose the world to them.

Ditto on consignment!  High end clothes for great prices...and resale the ones that are too big.  Win-win!  BTW, in G'ville, Double Digits has been a life saver for me.  I have returned to Atlanta, yet am still in SC frequently so stopping by DD is a must.

Pre surgery, I always bought my shirts a size or two bigger than I needed because I thought that would keep people from noticing how big I was, and I thought it would help cover my lower belly. ( Wrong on both counts, Audrey. )

It took me a year or so to feel okay about buying the proper size in shirts. I STILL sometimes revert back to that old frame of mind. I know I look better in clothes that fit, but since I haven't had plastics, I still feel like I need to cover up. There are times when I look at the few plus sized shirts I've kept and think "That probably still fits me." I drive my husband bonkers when I do that. He'll roll his eyes at me and say "Yeah, because you still look the same." ( The snark is strong in him, which is one of my favorite things about him. We can snark it up all day long. )

I still tend to wear shirts untucked if I can, even though I've worn shirts and blouses tucked in and they look fine-I still see the flaws and have to fight the urge to cover them all up. I do squish my empty belly skin into shapewear, and that sort of helps me feel better about 60% of the time. I still need to check out sleevey wonders for the ol' bat wings.

Buying pants and jeans that fit properly aren't as much of a problem for me, strangely, but skirts and dresses are. Damn, I'm weird.

Have you gone to the site? It's fabulous. I love the waterfall style.

Kat W. brought the site to my attention a couple of years ago. The name of the company is awesome too.

I agree. I see people in ill-fiiting clothing, especially bras, and it makes me wince.

bras are a huge issue for me.  I was fortunate enough to be gifted a bunch of wonderful Soma bras by Cynthia a few months ago that were fitting wonderfully.  They are now getting roomy in the cups and I think I'll have to resort to bra shopping, which I HATE.

I love the bras from Soma--they're what I wear. When you do go bra shopping, take your time and do all sorts of stuff in the fitting room. I jump up and down, bend over, reach up and put my arms straight out like I'm driving.  The vanishing edge panties are nice too.
