Gaining confidence - in a bad way?
I too had always been a doormat and people pleaser! I think a lot of overweight people have been their whole lives due to wanting to be accepted. I changed after surgery too. I don't work, so I can't relate to that part of it though. I would hate to be in that situation, but it sounds like you handled yourself well, and she got what she deserved. Perhaps now she will think twice before acting that way again to you. Congrats!

I've pretty much mostly been the opposite of door-matty . . . . after turning 40 . . . . My fave way to answer is with a smile to gently say "No thank you". No explanation or excuse included. Pretty much leaves most taker-types confused but not angered :)
