You've been given an incredible gift in the way of this surgery. With surgery of course comes a bit of pain. Most people find that most
of the pain stems from gas which does pass so to speak. I had my RNY open. I was so excited to have it I was up moving and barely
noticed the discomfort of surgery as I was always in pain from the weight anyway.
Just stay positive and take whatever pain meds your doc gave you. Sometimes what works for most won't work for you so definitely call your
surgeons office to see if you might get something different to try, but this discomfort should pass quickly. Keep your eye on the prize which is the light at the end of the tunnel.
The journey is a wonderful thing and you can't believe to imagine how great your going to feel once the weight starts coming off and your
activity level increases.
Very best of luck. Get all your protein and water in and follow your eating plan strictly and it will all be worth it in the end and then some.

The first few weeks are difficult. There's no getting around the fact that even with laproscopy it's still major surgery. Take your pain meds. regularly - do NOT skip a dose or delay it because you're feeling better for at least the next week - maybe even 2. I started feeling much better at about 3 weeks. Just keep taking tiny sips of water, walk as much as you can, and get some protein in. It will get easier, honestly, it will!

Thank you for your message. It really helps to hear it gets better.
Thank you!!!!!!!
I had my surgery on Monday too... on my left side, I'm pretty sore. From reading everything here, I'm not surprised. What I'm concentrating on is that this pain I'm having is either from the gas, or being cut open...
I am able to sip water, and get in the 3 4oz protein shakes my doc wants me to get down. I have these half burp/half hiccups, they hurt pretty bad too...
But I figure all of that will sort itself out. I am walking as much as I can considering it's been raining since I got out of the hospital (so I'm walking inside, using all of the 3000 sq ft, with 4 dogs following me wondering what the heck I"m doing! hahaha)
Walk, sip your water, drink your protein, walk some more... then take a pain pill and take a nap. Wake up and repeat.
In a week or two we'll be past this part, and I'm just concentrating on how well I'm doing with the fluids, because in the long run, that's the important thing.
Hang in there! I'm sorry you're in pain! You're not alone though ;)
