Hello everyone

ive tried everything that I know of and read about, but am having no luck in the poop department. It's been two weeks since my last small bowel movement. Any advice?

unfortunatley my suregon is 8 hours away and does not offer follow up appointments or else I would discuss with him. Next step is a meeting with my family physician who is semi retired.

Thank you in advance to any who may comment

What type of surgeon doesn't do follow up care? That is messed up. Do you have the surgeon number, I would call that regardless of if he said he does follow u*****t. You need medical intervention. Have them page the after hours doctor.

2 weeks is much too long to go without a BM. Are you passing gas? What have you tried so far?

Oh it's quite a long story with my suregon. I almost died in his care.

yes, I am having gas. I've tried milk of magnesium, Metamucil, senokot and benefiber.

Walk, drink lots of water and stick to the diet plan.

Fiber isn't going to help in these situations.  It most likely will make it worse as it will just create more bulk and add to the blockage.  Try light laxative likely miralax first and then move to more drastic measures if that doesn't work.

I'm glad your passing gas, that's a great sign. I think it may be time for an enema. Do you have someone to assist you with that? I would also recommend miralax. You may have to take a double dose to make it work.

I agree, grab a bunch of enemas, 2 weeks is a dangerously long time.

Get to your Fam Doctor - even if you have Victory in the Poop Dept.  You need periodic follow-up - lab work, etc, so get that in place before you need it.

Most of us experiment and find what works - Benefiber in yogurt each morning, or something like that to keep on top of the problem.

If you are taking pain medication, stop taking it.

I was on pain medicine last summer for a back injury and could not have a bowel movement until I stopped the medicine.  Then I used an enema to get it started.

Good lord, you are backed up. I take 1/2 to 1 cap of miralax a day in my decaf coffee.
