I was pretty terrified before surgery. My surgeon said it was a good thing: I wouldn't be afraid unless I knew EXACTLY what I was getting into. Having it be real like that is scary, but once you start healing and learn to embrace it, you'll be OK :)

I was scared, I just didn't let anyone know. I kept telling myself I could back out at anytime. Of course I didn't and am so glad I didn't.
Everything Daisy said. I did feel pretty great within a week, although I took a nap every afternoon for a few weeks and I am not a napper. The hardest thing the first few months was the mental part, when to eat when to drink, being on schedule. Figuring out what agreed and didnt agree. Things would not agree one week, and be fine a couple of weeks later.
Good Luck!

I was so scared about how it would feel afterwards to have my intestines rerouted. When I woke up from surgery I realized I did not know how my insides were routed before and did not feel anything different. I was up and walking as soon as they took me to my room from recovery.
I felt well enough to go back to work after two days. I have surgery on a Tuesday, was home on Thursday, doing light housework and cooking on Friday as well as walking on the treadmill. I went back to work on Monday.
On Saturday my sister-in-law came to see me and was amazed at how well I was. She called my surgeon on Monday, scheduled her first appointment and then she had RNY. It was something she had needed for years but had been too afraid of the surgery.
Her surgery was also easy, she lost her excess weight and has maintained for years.
