if that helps one person.... so you know you are not alone...

PITA = Pain In The Ass.. literally...

Yeap. I get that. Once in a while.  Rectum spasms.  It is horrible.  My gastro told me some people get it.

Anal Charlie Horse - PITA..

First time I had it at work a while back..I cried... When I described that to one of ladies I work with.. She Just smiled and told me ..."o yea,  you are having a colon spasm.. It should pass soon.... "

What's an Anal Charlie Horse?

Proctalgia fugax is a severe, cramp-like pain, deep in the anal canal. It usually lasts for a few seconds or minutes, but can sometimes last for up to half an hour. Between attacks there is no pain at all. Most sufferers have only 5 or 6 attacks a year. You may feel a need to defecate urgently, but nothing happens. It may even make you feel dizzy, or give you a headache. It occurs in both men and women. The pain often wakes sufferers at night, and men may have an erection at the same time. Some men experience it after sex. It is a mysterious condition; no one knows what causes it, but it is probably a spasm of the rectal or pelvic floor muscles and does not mean that you have anything seriously wrong. There are various methods of relieving the pain.

When that happens to me - I take my sublingual IBS meds...Hyoscyamine .. 3+.. and just wait for the spasms to go away.. walk walk walk...that really helps...

it does not happen often...  but when it does -  it is really horrible... crying in pain horrible...

I've had them too. I talked to my OBGYN after the first, thinking it was in the middle--not on either end... And she said it's comparable to labor pain-wise. I've never had a baby, but with that comparison...saved my pride. It made me cry too...also throw-up...

(Happened last November, and once since. Really hoping it resolves somehow!)

High Weight 376, about a year before program. I gave up diet pop(and all pop), dropped 30 pounds without trying, and kept it off. Now convinced Carbonated Beverages. Are. Evil.
