Protein Powder Question
OK Here's my question...
Has anyone ever mixed protein powder with their protein shakes? Post op, I will have to take in 60-70 grams of protein per day. I can't stand those protein shakes, but if I could boost one bottle by adding powder, I was hoping to be able to stomach a single bottle over the course of a day. Is this an option or am I just grasping at straws? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
My understanding is we can only absorb 30g protein at a time. So adding 60-70g to one drink and drinking it over the day I don't think works. Protein shakes are still a meal in my book and should be consumed within a half hour, maybe a little longer if you are fresh post-op. The Inspire brand protein powders on bariatriceating.com only need 6oz fluid. I would shake the drinks as blender and ice creates greater volume. It takes some trial and error but there are a lot of drinks out there to try. IF you buy at GNC or Viatamin shoppe they will take back open bags if you don't like it within 30 days. GNC full refund, and Vitamin shoppe store credit.

I have been. I am having a lot of trouble getting any volume in at once, so I have been adding extra protein to my shakes since I can only squeeze in 3oz or so in half an hour...
I've also been doing protein pudding, and in addition to the sf pudding mix and 1 scoop of matching protein powder, I'm tossing in some other unflavored scoops to beef up the protein grams to the double digits in the amount I'm able to eat. I do 1 chocolate + x-unflavored because 2+scoops of chocolate is much too sweet for me to stomach.

I hate the milky protein shakes, I've never been able to choke them down. Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, any brand, EW.
I WAS, however, able to handle the clear ones. I got premade bottles of Isopure on Amazon, it tastes like fruit punch koolaid and is way easier to drink. I also got some Syntrax Nectar, which comes in tons of flavors-- you can order sample packs online with half a dozen flavors. The fuzzy navel flavor is great when you mix it with orange Crystal Light, and the lemonade is really good too.
