Delayed release Omeprazole
So, I know that extended and delayed release medications don't work as effectively for us after RNY because of the way we are arranged, and I just got my prescription for Omeprazole because I'm having acid occasionally. I noticed on the bottle that it's delayed release, is this an issue? I guess I could email my PCP and ask him what he thinks, but he's not a bariatric surgeon. I could also contact my surgeons office but honestly they are so busy, I'd rather ask you guys here.
Also, is there another type of Omeprazole other than delayed release? I looked at the OTC stuff and it all looks the same.
I am pretty sure it is all delayed release, that is why you only have to take once a day...

I just got permission today to change from the new PPI I'd been given since surgery, back to my delayed release 40mg Omeprozole. It works better for me, called the surgeon, they said YUP. So, I did.
I'm VSG, but also got the extended-release warning when I left the hospital after surgery... So I was doubtful they'd allow it, but so far, so good.
Who prescribed it, reg Dr or surgeon? I'd call the surgeon to ask before my PCP.
Good luck!

My surgeon prescribed it after surgery, but that was only for 2 months. I had my PCP prescribe it for me, bit is the same prescription. I have a history of H. Pylori and ulcers before surgery and I've always taken Omeprazole.
So far it's working, but I just noticed the extended release because it's not in a brown bottle, but an original bottle from the manufacturerest.
Today has been a much better day for me tummy-wise... So I get it. The Protonics were doing nothing.
Good luck with it, and fingers-crossed the H. pylori stays gone. My great aunt just battled it and lost about 35 lbs when she didn't want to lose any. Stinking infections.
