I had VSG surgery 5 days ago and I'm feeling no restriction, I can drink about 12oz of water in a hour or more and have no problems getting in all my vitamins. My question is, will this change as i go on and what does it feel like when you have restriction, can someone answer both questions for me...... Thanks.

Yes you will eventually feel a restriction.  Liquids for the most part go right through you so they don't get restricted as much.  You are so early in the process, you are a long way from the real restriction.  Measure your foods according to your programs requirements and follow that.  Your stomach doesn't have the ability to give you feed bac****il it heals up.  I still measure my foods and eat the measured portion, not until I'm full or feel the restriction typically.

Thanks for the reply, that marks me feel a little better, I feel like I'm doing pretty good being only 5 days out. I see that some people say they can't get in all there water or protein in and i can and was concerned.

All the nerves in your stomach were cut,  so you are not feeling anything really.  In a few weeks when things start healing you will feel it. Make sure to measure until then,  if you put too much in you can actually damage your stomach.

Look, I try not to get too excited in my responses, so forgive me.  You are 5 days out - you are supposed to be sipping - you should not even know what teels like to drink that much that fast.  Depending on how your surgeon did your surgery, many of your nerves have been cut -you may not feel the restriction until they grow back.  (You may not be doing this consciously, but you are testing your pouch tooooo sooooon.)  Just measure and sip for a few more weeks.

Water really won't stretch your pouch/sleeve. It goes right thru.

Yes, I'd like that research also. The op drank 12oz of water in an hour, that's 3oz every 15minutes, or 1oz every 5 minutes, that looks pretty slow to me. Water is utilized by the body pretty quickly, so unless there's some other problems, I'm pretty sure 12oz of water is not just hanging out in his sleeve.
