1 week post op

Well it's week one and I'm already getting a different palette. Right now, I can only handle applesauce, premier protein shakes, water and now sugar free Popsicles. I could have soup the first 2 days and now even the thought just makes me cringe. I've already been able to switch to hot/cold vs room temp which makes me happy. I like drinks cold like most people lol.

Anyone else have/had this? Anything else you've been able to stomach? I don't want to move to mushy foods yet until they give me the ok on Monday/Tuesday.

Hi! I've noticed now, if things are too sweet, I can't stomach them, and I used to have the biggest sweet tooth! My tastes completely changed after surgery, it's funny how that happens.

I ate a lot of yogurt my first couple of weeks, the Fage O% Fat Free Plain Greek, with a tiny bit of Splenda and a bit of cinnamon.  That helped me get my meds down and not upset my stomach.

I should try the yogurt with cinnamon/"sugar." I never thought of that! Thank you! I have never liked Greek yogurt so I might have to retry it hahaha

I can't stomach it plain, but it's pretty good with Splenda and cinnamon.

Have you been able to eat oatmeal yet? I read a lot of people were able to at stage 3 purées but I haven't gotten any confirmation from someone who has actually had it

I did Cream of Wheat before I tried oatmeal. I tried to keep carbs at a minimum though, so I didn't eat it very often. I don't touch it now.

I guess there's a few oatmeal brands out there that are plain, no sugar, low in carbs and high in protein? Quaker Oats has one but I haven't read the label yet to make sure

I have had the Quaker instant oatmeal. Our guidelines (Cdn) are to make sure it has less than 10 gr is sugar per serving. The high protein berry is one and the lightly sweetened Apple and cinammon is another I've used. I used these since coming home from the hospital
