I Miss Food
The problem is intolerance. These were staples pre-op but now my tummy can't handle them.

Eating post-op is a bit of a trial and error and dumping syndrome is not pleasant (sort of the double edged sword for compliance post-op) but some of the foods you mentioned I'd give another go when you are home and feeling brave... it's usually timing thing... just because it's on a Dr's list as OK doesn't mean your body was ready but usually a month or so later and it will work out. Small amounts to test the water of course... build up a tolerance again.
You might want to chat with your Dr about Rx's for extreme dumpers... Acarbose, Somatostatin LOL that sounded like a commercial... chat with your doctor and see if ____ is right for you ;) Anyway...
Hope all the things you are missing you are able to have again.
Things change over time... I couldn't eat tuna for the first 6 months... then I could eat it. Why? who knows??? Just the way it was. Try things again along the way in small bites and see how you tolerate them... Sugar alcohols are the devil...that may never change. But onions and garlic, beef and pork may. I have found beef to be the easiest thing to eat since surgery. Everyone is different. Good Luck.

right now, complain.
when you get to your goal weight and time passes you will feel more like trying other things. to flavor things i use -1 tsp-1tbs low sod spag sauce, worchestershire sauce. i was lucky b/c seafood was good for me from about 6 months - serve me shrimp or crab and i am a happy camper. i'm not sayng that any of these will work for you, but you are only 4 months post surg, your pouch is still healing but it is still new. at 6-9 months you, you will try foods with more success. at only 4 months you are eating what you should be.

Thanks to all of you *****plied to my original post, reassuring me that I WILL be able to eat more foods as time goes on! You gave me hope!
I can now have half a banana, or use banana to sweeten a smoothie, which is wonderful. Garlic powder (but not yet fresh garlic, yet) is fine now. And I can eat carrots as long as I chew thoroughly. And I've invented a wonderful savory snack (which often serves as a light supper on these hot days) -- oil-free popcorn mixed with some cooked edamame, all spritzed with soy sauce & sprinkled with plenty of brewers' yeast. Sounds weird but it is seriously YUM.
