If God Wanted You To Have Holes In Your Ears....
He would have made you with them....That's what I'd always hear from my mom when I was young and wanted pierced ears. I finally got them pierced when I was 18, then double pierced by the time I was 28. However, I expected that type of remark when I finally told my mother and sister I had had the VSG surgery. The reply I got, instead, was, does your sister have the same kind of insurance? Really? I thought for sure she'd be railing me out for having a portion of my stomach removed. However, I waited until nearly 4 months out and over 60 pounds lost, to tell her the "secret" to my weight loss. I had been telling them I was doing low fat, low sugar, which wasn't a lie. I just didn't add the part about the surgery until they started remarking how youthful I was being able to be since taking off the weight.
Go figure.
So glad you got a positive response to your revelation... I hope your sis was OK with your Mom's comment. As you know it's a decision that is best made when/if you are ready. If she does decide to go the same route in her weight loss journey it's nice to have someone forging the way... my sister and niece had WLS before I did.
