I Love My Insurance!!!

Now, I know that may not be something that just rolls off the tongues of most of us, but in this case, I couldn't be more happy.  I just called to be sure that my allergy testing and chiropractor appointment would be covered.  Yep 100%.  Then, I took a deep breath and asked how much my WLS and hospitalization would be...100% COVERED!  Are you kidding me?  I am floating on a cloud right now.  I can go into that surgery even more excited because I won't have to sell my first born to pay for this fabulous opportunity to change my life for the better.

Good news that is!  I was lucky that mine was also 100% covered and that my wife had earlier surgery that year and the out of pocket for the both of us was also taken care of so my total out of pocket cost for the surgery and following up visits was $150.  My insurance wouldn't pay the $50 visit fee after surgery with the nutritionist (3 appointments), oddly.

$50 is a drop in the bucket isn't it?  I can certainly deal with that!  My concern was any little complication that would keep me hospitalized longer than planned, or the dreaded return to the hospital.  I think my recovery will be much more smooth without the stress of worrying about how much the bill will be at the end of the road.  I am SOOOOO ready to move along.  I am half way through my physician guided weight loss pre op portion, so time is getting a little closer.

I also asked the turn around time for approval and the insurance rep said less than 7 days.  So technically I have 5 more weeks of pre op, then (hopefully) less than a week for approval.  My birthday is June 3, and what a fantastic birthday gift the surgery would be!

OUCH! I never take care of myself, so I'm justifying the appointments as preparation for surgery. BTW, I only have to justify to myself. My girls are all for Mr taking care of myself.

That is very nice.  I used to have nice insurance.  Now I have the regular 80% coverage.  A few trips to my Allergist this year has cost me about $700 so far.  I wish they were covered 100%...and WLS isn't covered at all.

I too am fortunate enough to have great insurance... Mine was not 100%, but with a yearly max out of pocket of $500, my insurance covered the other $34500 of my surgical expenses...
