I'm liberated!

If there was ever a doubt by anyone that I wouldn't stick to this life changing plan, those doubts are now gone.  Anyone that knows me, knows that I watch every dime I spend. Yesterday I liberated (purged) all the complete wardrobes I had in sizes 18-3X, that were living in my closet and drawers.

I took a truck full of garbage bags full of the clothes to a clothing exchange that my bariatric center had last night.  Anything that didn't get taken by my fellow baries I then hauled off to a local shelter as a donation.  I felt so liberated!

When I got home and looked in my closet, I felt like Old Mother Hubbard must have felt, only with an empty closet.  Now I have lots of room for new small clothes once I reach goal and go shopping.

Get busy shopping!! I went to thrift stores, kohls, swap.com. I bought in my current size and the next size down so i would have at least something to wear. Seems sizing is going down one size a month or so now.

I regretted for a minute givin away my fat clothes because I - who knew I'd never need them again - did in fact gain weight back and could have used them. But...I say I only regretted it for a minute bc I would still do the same thing. Keeping them - for me- is like keeping a permission slip in my back pocket to gain weight. At least this 2nd time around, I'll really think long and hard about my tolerance for weight gain and needing bigger clothes again.

I had my surgery a year before you - I just got my L and XLs together for a swap at my bari center next week. I was confident enough to send off the 1X to 3Xs last year, but I had been holding onto the L-XLs, but now they are on their way out!!

Congrats to you!!

It is kinda liberating to get rid of the bigger clothes, I felt a little sad too cuz some of them I really liked & they didn't come in a smaller size, they were just way too old, why does fashion have to move so damn fast!

Glad to see you on the main boards! How are you feeling? Hope you're keeping your strength & spirits up.

Thank you for asking!  My very aggressive chemo has totally knocked me on my butt.  It even landed me in the hospital for 5 days, after my 1st treatment, with a Neutrophenic Fever.  I have now had 2 treatments, and only seem to sleep until the next treatment comes along 3 weeks later.  I have very little appetite but try to push dense protein when I do eat.

I kept one pair of pants just as a reminder. When I would feel depressed I put those on and instant smiles. Happy for you
