Gall Bladder Removal

Would it be too much to ask my surgeon to remove my gall bladder during my RNY surgery?  I haven't had any issues with it, but my mother had to have hers removed (non WLS related) and it seems like so many post op people have gall stone issues.  Just wondered if anyone requested this from their doctor.

I just had this happen. .. I had vsg 10/15/15 and 3/16/16 I had to have my gall bladder removed. it was way more painful than having my WLS was. id definitely recommend talking to your dr about it. who knows it may never go bad but then again it might! mine was in less than 6 mo after VSG!

You may want to check with your insurance company. If gallbladder removal isn't considered medically necessary (i.e. it's not causing problems now), they likely won't pay for it.

Most doctors will not remove a healthy organ. Therre is a chance you may never need it out.
