For those who have lost 100lbs or more and did NOT have skin reduction surgery. How long...

I once saw a youtube video where some woman was urging people not to be afraid of loosing a major amount of weight because the skin goes back. I don't know of anyone who has actually waited for it to go back naturally. What's your experience.

If you have stretch marks on your skin it will not go back naturally as that skin is "dead".  The only way to remove excess skin is with surgery.  That woman is misinforming people.  Sorry to tell ya.

Thanks for the info. That's sad, but I still want to loose the weight!!! Where did you find that the skin is "dead"?

I've lost over a hundred now. I have skin, but its not nearly as bad as i thought it would be. At this stage it livable for me-- time will tell if my feelings change.

Will ALL of the skin bounce back? Sorry i don't believe this is true for anyone carrying such a huge excess of weight, regardless of age/heredity. My stomach will not be flat w/o a tunny tuck. My arms will not be flabby w/o an arm lift. Just a fact of life. Maybe that lady was in the .01% who bounced back-- but I'd call that VERY very rare.

Wow your skin isn't as bad as you thought it would be? What did you do to get such great results?

I did nothing special--other than exercise.

If you lose a very large amount of weight, you'll have extra skin. No way around it. But there are differences. I know some who lost half what I did, but have twice as much excess skin. So I was lucky -- but I'm still never going to be a swimsuit model.

I lost 140lb in about 11 months, and aside from a little bit of tummy jiggle, don't have much loose skin at all. No batwings, no panni, no floppy thighs. Hell, I have more stomach jiggle after pregnancy than I did after WLS. I have no plans for plastics.

Everybody is different.

Wow. Wow. Wow. What did you do? Was it strength training, hydration, vitamins, low carb? That is wonderful. What did you do differently?

I didn't do a damn thing differently than anybody else, I just got lucky.

Protein every day, lots of water, vitamins recommended by my doctor. Zero strength training, though I started doing a lot of cycling at the 6-month mark.
