Question about 6 month diet!
hello all, I'm half way through my 6 month diet my fourth appointment is at the end of April. I have gone down from 231 to 224 but I am worried about keeping it off for my next appointment. If at my fourth appointment I am let's say 225 or 226 will it effect my insurance. Can they deny me for being heavier then the month before or is it as long as I'm under my initial weight of 231 and don't have a net gain I'm good. All this stuff is so confusing and anxiety provoking. I need this !

This varies between insurance policies; call customer service and ask.
Some insurance companies look at total weight loss, weight after completing the pre-op diet, or some just want to see that you did it. Depends on the plan.

As Julie says all insurances are different. If you have an HR person you can go to have them clarify the requirements for you. If not, call the number on the back of the card and see if they can be of some help understanding the criteria. Have them send you a follow up email so if you are like me, you can go back and reference LOL I forget sometimes Take it one day at a time, this is for you and the rest of your "healthy" life!

I would not call your insurance co - only as a last event.
Rather, there is an insurance specialist in your doctor's office - call and ask to speak to him/her - they would be my first resource (and best friend). Remember, your surgeon submits your package for ins approval, not you.
Good Luck

Yes, the surgeon submits the package. But the surgeon (nor his/her insurance specialist) doesn't make the final decision on your specific case and your specific policy.

my cousin is getting ready for RNY and her insurance company has to see a steady loss and any kind of gain she has to start all over
