Wow. Your averages seem very high and consistent. What did you do? were you low carb? Did you exercise regular?ly Was there anything that caused you to start loosing weight sowly? I'm looking for things to keep from doing.

I have to admit to little to no exercise. I've tried but cannot make myself get into it.

But eating I have done amazing at since month 1 if I do say so myself. I eat super low carb and never cheat. Ever. My cheating is a sugar free Popsicle or an extra half ounce of beef jerky. I eat no bread, rice, pasta. I had 202 pounds to lose when I started so this was no joke to me and I couldn't afford to fail. I have 37 pounds left. I'm really nervous now that I'm over 1 year because I still have more to lose but I'm still eating the same plan so am still hopeful that I will be successful!

Good luck.

3 months out, loosing maybe 10lbs a month, started at 327 at 5'10 under 25 yrs old female. I'm told that the fastest weight loss will occur within the first 6mo. If this is true then wow, will it be slow after the next 3 months. How much did you loose from month to month throughout your journey.

My weight loss slowed down in month 9  when I already lost 95 % of my excess weight and started introducing other foods.. like more carbs...

this is exactly why you loss got slow - you don't follow the plan .. the farther out- the more difficult it is going to be.. my friend introduced corn, rice, and bread earlier on... She never got to her goal.. and now - shere-gained.. so she is even farther from her goal..

My monthly totals are in my signature.  I will say that at a year out I am having to make every calorie count to get to my goal.

Sticking to your diet (High protein) is going to be the most important thing. Of course, weight loss is increased by exercise, but not all of us are able, or even have the energy for it, so do what works for you, but stick to your diet, and you WILL lose the weight.

The main thing is not to get discouraged when you notice that the scale is not moving. Not sure what causes that to happen, but it happens. I always say its our body's resting or simply refusing to let go. I have seen times that the scale didn't budge for like 3 weeks and the just start dropping again suddenly. Just try to be patient (easier said the done) that weight will start coming off again. It will!!

I lost about 90 pounds total (which was fine for me) with RNY over about 12-14 months.  I was a slow loser the whole way with lots of stalls.  I am also an insulin dependent diabetic, so I'm sure that factored in.  Biggest weight loss was in the 3rd and 4th months, but then 3-4 pounds a week for just a few weeks.  Been 4.5 years now.  Everyone is different.  Just keep doing what you are supposed to, and don't start making any of your own rules.  It's tempting - just don't.

Best to you!

Thank you. I have been back on track for about a week. When I start to stall I start to comfort eat. I also introduced carbs way to early. I am dialing them back now. I hope that this will help the weight fall off. It seems like I'm stalled for about the first 3 weeks of the month. Then in the last week I'll loose about 10 lbs. Is this normal?

"Normal" is a hard term to define.  If you have any concerns about your weight loss rate, I always suggest getting in touch with your medical team as they know these things best.

Two things you mentioned that I would suggest you work on directly:  comfort eating and carb intake.  Weight loss surgery is a tool, not a solution.  If you don't actively address these two issues now and ongoing, you will lose weight, but then you will regain it once the surgery honeymoon has passed.  Those who are successful, long term, address these two things aggressively and actively on an ONGOING basis.

For some, emotional eating got us into this situation.  It will not get us out of it, even with surgery.  I am an insulin dependent diabetic with a very broken metabolism.  And, one of the blessings of the disease, is that I have to (and choose to) carb count everything so that my insulin pump can best help me.  It means that every decision to eat anything is a conscious act which requires action on my part.  It helps me to stay in control and not to lose track.

Think about some tools that might help you.  Writing down your food/carb intake?  An app like MyFitnessPal?  Journaling?  A support group for emotional eating?  If you address this things now, they will pay off for you well into the future....

Best to you!
