crazy girl total meltdown yesterday but laughing about it this morning
I recieved some test results and totally freaked out. I tested possitive for H.pylori, and sleep apnea. The follow up sleep study to fit the machine is late April. As for the H. Pylori, two weeks of antibiotics (six pills a day Yikes!) plus I have to wait 4 weeks after taking the meds before they will retest to make sure the infection is gone. Six more weeks of waiting! Six weeks before I can meet with the surgeon and get a surgery date. Six more weeks of people asking me when I will have surgery and I have no idea! I might change jobs this summer and I need to get this done incase insurance changes.
I know that six weeks is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I was totally ticked off. The strange thing is that I was mad at my body for failing the tests. I understand the Doctor's policies and why these things need to be undercontrol before surgery. So I can't get mad at the doctor, but I sure can get mad at those stupid germs! This morning I took my pills and yelled ... Die germs Die!!!

The sleep apnea stuff is important. I was diagnosed long before I had WLS, and my surgeon told me to bring my machine to the hospital when I had surgery.
Somehow, the hospital forgot to hook me up to the machine when I was in the OR, even though I brought it with me. When they hit the button to start the anesthesia, I stopped breathing and it took an hour to stabilize me before they could begin the actual procedure.
So trust me, it's a good thing that you need to get it in line beforehand.

I also was on cpap machine prior to surgery. I have never slept that well in my entire life the time I was on it. Now I turned my machine back in over a month ago and i miss it. I wake up less rested and feel almost out of breath. I've made a call to the Dr to get it back. Hopefully I won't have to have another test... 2 tests were enough.
I'm really not trying to bring you down further, but have you asked if you need to be on the CPAP for a certain amount of time? I can no longer remember the specifics, but my clinic required I be on the CPAP for awhile (8 weeks?) and that I have proof of it (they checked the disc) before surgery was scheduled. You might not have that hoop to jump through, but you might want to check so you are not surprised again.

I was treated for H. Pylori more than a year before surgery because it was causing ulcers. I know 6 weeks is a long time, but be sure to take all of your antibiotics as prescribed with the PPI they give you with it. I was treated once in 2010, but that round didn't actually kill it so I had to be treated again in 2014.
Ulcers are no joke post WLS! hang in there, you'll get through it and join us on the losers bench.
Complications suck. Keep focused on getting healthier - more mobile, lose a few more pounds - you will be closer to your goal of being at a healthy weight and you will be healthier going into surgery and healthier coming out -- that is better for your long term success.
Use those 6 weeks to your advantage.

I had my sleep study on 3/23 and picked up my CPAP on 3/24. I have to be on it at least 31 days before seeing the sleep specialist again for her clearance for surgery. My appointment in 4/28, and I hope I've adjusted by then and she gives me her 'okay'. I also 'failed' the psych eval and am working to get my stress and anxiety under control. I go back to the psych doctors next week. Best wishes to you and I hope everything goes smoothly for you!!!
