Good morning everyone!

So I just wanted to share with the people that are contemplating getting weight loss surgery. DO IT! It just occured to me this morning that I am 9 weeks post op and down almost 40 lbs!! Never in my life have I been able to lose weight like this. I feel great, my health problems are dwindling away, and my confidence is starting to peek out from the rock it's been hiding under all these years. I tell you, I wish I would have done this years ago and regret that it took so long to make the decision. I guess a major factor was insurance coverage of it since the out of pocket expense is quite large and there is no way I could have afforded it without the insurance.

Anywho --- just a random thought I had this morning and thought to share

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!!

Thanks so much for posting this.  I am scheduled in May for my surgery and have been on this site everday since November 2015.  I just read a post by someone saying they were in the hospital for two years because this surgery ruined their life.  I wanted to run the other way, but posts like this make it better to see what can be ahead for me.  I know there can be complications but wow, she had me thinking....

There are always going to people that have something terrible happen, that can happen with any surgery of course. One of my very good friends almost died 10 years ago from her bypass surgery but it was a fluke thing and she was in the hands of a very good surgeon. Who knows why these things happen, but they do. I had a terrible experience with emergency gallbladder surgery where I wound up with 2 surgeries, and inflamed pancreas, and a week in the hospital. Meanwhile others have overnight surgery. Why did it happen to me - who knows, but it did. But I would be the first person to tell someone if your gallbladder is hurting, get it out lol. Or I should share that I saw my general doctor today and found out I have shingles. He said my lack of nutrition may have brought this on because it weakens the immune system. But here I am, still happy and still telling you that I don't regret my surgery in the least (even if my arm is in so much pain from this stuff - ouch). I wish you all the luck on your surgery and weight loss journey and try not to let all the scary posts have you second guessing it. From what I've read, especially from the veterans on here, if you follow your eating plans and make time for exercise we will succeed!

Thanks so much!  Best wishes with the shingles.  I hear they are very painful

Did you lose some of that 40 while on the liquid diet prior to surgery?

Yes, I lost 9 lbs on my 2 week pre-op diet before surgery.
